Barbells
Olympic bars for weightlifting, powerlifting and everyday training. From the chrome training bar and the 15 kg women's bar to bars with twelve needle bearings and a 900 kg load rating.
Which bar to choose
The bar is the one piece of equipment you touch on every rep, so it pays to choose by what you will do with it. The 20 kg chrome training bar rated to 350 kg is the proven base for home gyms and school gyms. The PREMIUM and Cerakote bars have 12 needle bearings, so the sleeves spin smoothly even in the snatch and clean and jerk, and a 680 to 900 kg rating that nobody in a commercial gym will exceed. The 15 kg women's bar is shorter with a 25 mm grip, fits a smaller hand and is used in women's competition. The Squat Bar at 21 kg and rated to 320 kg has foam rollers and handles, so heavy squats do not press on the neck. 120 cm EZ bars in mild and strong curl versions spare the wrists in biceps and triceps work.
What to look at
- Load rating: 200 kg is plenty for an EZ bar; for squats and deadlifts you want headroom, hence 680 and 900 kg.
- Bearings or bushings: needle bearings for Olympic lifts, plain bushings are fine for presses and squats.
- Knurling: dual knurl marks help with a wide grip, centre knurl helps in squats.
- Finish: chrome is easy to maintain, Cerakote resists sweat and garage humidity better.
All bars have 50 mm Olympic sleeves and take our bumper and TRI-GRIP plates. Secure the plates with plastic locks or spring collars from the Collars and Accessories category. 24-month warranty.
